It’s been about 5 weeks since I was in Nigeria delivering Part 1 of Culture Shift 3 and I’m delighted to announce that from all the organisations who took part in the Idea Hack, we have a shortlist of six to take forward into the Hackathon this February.

Picking the six wasn’t easy. All the participants showed a fantastic enthusiasm and commitment during the three day Idea Hack. We’re also fortunate in that the shortlist covers a broad range of sectors in the Nigerian cultural scene including film, music, fashion, publishing and photography.

The six finalists are;

  1. Mainframe Film Production
  2. Tae Wool Limited
  3. Nigerian National Film Corporation
  4. Fetch Strategic Insights & Co
  5. Chocolate City
  6. Parresia Publishers Limited

Next up is the Hackathon. A 3 day Hack event ran in collaboration with CcHub in Lagos where teams of designers, developers, technologists, marketers and business folks will come together to support one of the above organisations in realising and developing the concepts designed during the idea hack.

By the end of three days each team will pitch to a panel of judges and compete for a grant award and expert business advice to help build and implement their idea. Culture Shift works with UK expertise and local partners and brings together innovators from the creative and cultural industries and digital technologists to merge their expertise and design locally relevant and innovative products and services.

Culture Shift is hands down one of the most rewarding projects I’ve got the chance to be involved in and with great partners in the British Council and CcHub I’m confident we’ll deliver an outstanding third programme.
