Snook are on a mission to design a world that works better for people.
We work with organisations to design more effective services which help people thrive. We do this with our design team: engaging with users, building digital products, training our clients, and much more.
In 2019, we’ll be ten years old. In the past five years we’ve scaled more than double our size to a team approaching 40 people, opened a new London office, and worked with brilliant clients — from Cancer Research UK to Hackney City Council, Tesco to the Scottish Government.
We are looking for a design intern with a positive attitude who is eager to support our team and help turn research into action. You’ll be joining a long line of interns from all over the world and gain access to a network that has been building for the past 10 years in the design community.
As Snook’s design intern you will:
- Be positive, open-minded, and willing to learn.
- Support the Snook team, e.g. book travel, help organise events, assist with communications.
- Be responsible for one internal project, we will agree on what this is together.
- Support the Snook team with projects for clients, e.g. write content, help facilitate workshops, synthesise insights, assist with prototyping and testing.
One of our service designers will guide you throughout your internship. You will be fully immersed in Snook culture; taking part in all aspects of our studio life.
You can apply whatever your education background is, as long as you have the skills to meet the role requirements. Don’t worry if you don’t have all of these – you’re here to learn and we’re happy to train you. We would like to encourage graduates of design-oriented degrees to apply.
You should be able to demonstrate that you have some, or all, of the following skills, abilities, and traits:
- Positive attitude and always ready to help
- Willing and eager to learn
- Good time management skills
- Work well by yourself and in a team
- Ability to follow through and get things done
- Understanding of Service Design and/or User Research
- Ability to take ideas into prototypes
If that’s you, we’d love you to apply!
We strive for diversity in our team. If we’re going to design services for the public we need to ensure our team is diverse and inclusive. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and ages.
Closing date for applications is Monday 9th September 2019, by 12 noon. Please use the subject line: Hire me! Glasgow Design Intern.
Please submit a CV, a one-page cover letter, and a portfolio with no more than 3 projects (maximum 10 pages) to email@example.com. In the cover letter, please tell us a little bit about yourself, why you would be a good candidate for the internship, and what you hope to gain from your time with us.
What happens next
We will ask potential candidates to come for a one-hour interview with us. If selected, you will receive information about who will be there and what we’re looking to chat about beforehand. We’ll offer interviews at times that suit you, so if you have children, caring duties, or have to travel, we’re happy to accommodate for this. We can support travel costs outside of Glasgow if we take you to an interview stage.
If you are successful, we will support you with a Snook buddy when you join to get you started. Successful candidates must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK.
