From contracts to Christmas parties

Lili (a.k.a HR, H-Bizzle, Finance, etc) let’s us know what it’s like behind the scenes at Snook - by giving us a masterclass in GIFs.

I’ve been working at Snook as the operations manager for 3 years and 7 days.

In this time I’ve seen our team grow from 10 to 24, moved studio three times, and seen staff members come and go. We’ve also expanded internationally and become more solidified as a company and a team, all whilst growing our presence in London and bringing in bigger and bigger projects. Needless to say, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster.

However, now it’s time for me to get off this rollercoaster. I’ve decided it’s time to move on to new adventures and enable the operations team to expand and grow. One of the (many!) legacies I’m leaving behind is “HR’S random GIF of the day”. It’s fairly self explanatory, I’ll let you figure it out. To respect this tradition and help illustrate my journey at Snook, I present to you: “Working at Snook, a GIF guide.”

Me at my first Christmas party…

…vs my second Christmas party.

Lesson learnt: Always have a designated sensible person to lock up, the first year it was me! Also, you should never have a Christmas party on a Thursday – ever! (on a side note, I was definitely not the designated sensible person that second year…).

That feeling when I was asked one question too many.

Lesson Learnt: Questions are OK, but sometimes it’s important to think first before asking… *mic drop*.

That feeling when the operations team got it sorted.

Lesson learnt: The ops team keep the wheels turning – so much happens under the radar that allows design to happen and things to run smoothly.

That feeling when I finished reading a 56-page contract.

Lesson learnt: Sometimes contracts are needlessly complicated, however, putting them off never helps.

That feeling when everyone got their expenses in on time.

Lesson learnt: This is pure joy. It’s the little things that matter.

That feeling when I was off for two days and came back to 150 emails.

Lesson learnt: I didn’t learn anything, I only have one question: WHY?! I WAS ONLY GONE FOR 48 HOURS.

What to do when the team needs a boost.

And

Lesson learnt: Sometimes you just need some kind words and a cuddle — it doesn’t take much but it has a huge impact.

What to do when creepy is all you’ve got.

Lesson learnt: Long days + hectic schedule + the internet = HR’s getting creepy. Embrace it.

That feeling when you’re part of a brilliant team.

My time at Snook has been challenging but immensely rewarding and I’ve learnt so much. It’s been great to be a part of a fun and supportive team who make me laugh, daily! I’m really looking forward to seeing what Snook gets up to in the future, but for now — Auf Wiedersehen!
