About the company

Snook is on a mission to design a world that works better for people.

We work with organisations to design more effective services which help people thrive. We do this by engaging with users, building digital products, training our clients, and much more.

Snook started as a service design company in 2009 in Scotland. In the past five years, we have become a multidisciplinary team and grown to more than double our original size. We are now based in Glasgow and London and our team is approaching 100 people.

We’ve worked with brilliant clients — from Cancer Research UK and Tesco to Hackney City Council and the Scottish Government. We want to make sure human needs are at the centre of government services’ design and delivery, and are the user-centred design partner for multiple government agencies, including Home Office, Department for Education, NHS Digital and NHSX.

Next Era Government

One of Snook’s core missions is ‘Next Era Government’. We want to make sure that human needs are at the centre of government services’ design and delivery. We are the User-Centred Design partner for multiple government agencies, including Home Office, Department for Education, and the NHS.

About the role

As a Content Designer at Snook, you will create user-focused content for services and products to help make them easy to understand and accessible. You will work in a multidisciplinary team that includes interaction designers, user researchers, developers and service designers.

You’ll use research and evidence to advocate for user needs and develop content that meets them. You’ll also work closely with the team to test and iterate content as you go. You’ll be comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile way and at every stage of development.

You’ll play a key role in championing the importance of a user-centred design approach with stakeholders. This includes working in the open and frequently sharing the thinking and evidence behind your work.

  • Work with and guide senior stakeholders and influence decision-making with a strong evidence base of user needs, including presenting
  • Ensure content meets the legislative needs of our clients
  • Contribute to written reports and participate in stakeholder meetings
  • Contribute to our clients’ design systems, setting standards for content design
  • Understand and implement appropriate style and standards

Your skills and experience

We’re keen to hear from a range of applicants who can demonstrate some, or all, of the following skills and experience.

  • Creating user-centred content for products and services at different stages of their development
  • Using user research and evidence to inform the design of content and user journeys. This could include interviews, qualitative and quantitative data and desk research

  • Using metrics and user feedback to iterate content
  • Working in an agile way and at pace
  • Working with and influencing policy makers or legislative stakeholders to agree on statutory or legal requirements
  • Championing user-centred design practice
  • Working in a highly collaborative way, as part of a team with other designers as well as with stakeholders
