Snook are on a mission to design a world that works better for people.

We work with organisations to design more effective services which help people thrive. We do this by engaging with users, building digital products, training our clients, and much more.

This year we’re eleven years old. In the past five years, we’ve scaled to more than double our original size when we started up in Scotland. We now have over 80 people across the UK. And we’ve worked with brilliant clients — from Cancer Research UK and Tesco to Hackney City Council and the Scottish Government.

About the role

As a Product Manager at Snook, You’ll relish working closely with our digital team, clients and partners to ensure the right product is defined, prioritized, and built

Your work will centre around designing holistic services that work for a wide range of people, and the design of digital products and supporting the digital team and wider disciplines to embrace the importance of building and designing responsible technology. As a product Manager you will be responsible for helping de-risk and define the product vision. 

Your skills and experience

We’re keen to hear from a range of applicants who can demonstrate some, or all, of the following skills and experience:

Approach and ways of working:

  • Work closely with Snook clients to understand their product vision, and break it down into an actionable backlog of user stories for the development team.
  • Able to work within an agile environment with multidisciplinary teams, leading them through each phase of development. 
  • Delivering a Minimum Viable Product through careful and deliberate prioritization.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, clients and partners to create intuitive and impactful user centered services and products.
  • Work hands-on with the development team to prioritize, plan, and deliver software that meets client needs. 

Skills and experience:

  • Experience mentoring, coaching and collaborating with the embedded client product team members to drive decisions and best practice in agile development.
  • 5+ years of product management experience or equivalent product roles.
  • Experience managing a backlog, writing user stories, managing releases in complex domains.
  • Ability to confidently guide stakeholders and team members to determine business. goals, user needs and feasibility as you help design and ship products.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to teach others Agile ways of working.
  • Ability to collaborate well with engineers, designers, and clients.
  • Experience working with designers who have used design systems (e.g Gov.uk prototyping kit). 
  • Knowledge of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines and general accessibility criteria. 
  • Experience working within government is a bonus.

This might take the form of a recent talk we’ve given, or our teams may be asked to present elements of their work for discussion. This is a facilitated opportunity for open thinking and sharing on how we Snook, what we’re hearing and what we’re learning.
