The idea behind Know Sugar is simple: we make it easy for you to live a low sugar life style.  STV wrote a lovely article about us over here.

Health experts are calling sugar the new nicotine; a ticking time-bomb; the hidden menace. These are just some of the recent descriptions of the essential ingredient in everything from The Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino to Sharwood’s Sweet And Sour Chicken With Rice. Scotland is a country hooked on sugar and 220,000 of us have type 2 diabetes. NHS Scotland spent nearly £230m on drugs to treat diabetes and obesity in the last three years.

So what can we do about it? Do you know much of the white stuff you are consuming? How can you avoid hidden sugar in foods? And can we ever cure our collective sweet tooth?

The Know Sugar Shop will be in the Wellgate Centre, Dundee on the 8th and 9th of August and we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to

  1. help build the shop the night before opening
  2. help convince shoppers to visit the store
  3. interview visitors
  4. keep our social media channels on fire over the two days
  5. document the event through photographs and film
  6. tell us your ideas of how you could help!

Designers, web designers and journalists there’s lots you could help us with on the run up to opening! We need nutritionists, diet experts, diabetics and visitors to help us test an idea we believe could help change our country’s relationship with sugar.

Tweet us @knowsugar or mail to take part!
