During his time combining higher education and the civil service, he worked in Revenues and Benefits as well as electoral services and became interested in how to raise citizen participation in these areas. It is this desire to maximise the users’ input in how government services are delivered and an interest in amplifying seldom-heard voices, that brought him to Snook.  

Gordon was born and raised in the north-east of England and studied for an HND in business studies at the University of Humberside. He has two dogs (both Cockapoos) and enjoys cooking, cinema, reading, music, and sport, and is currently engaged to write a book, based on his thesis, about the 19th century poet and coal miner Joseph Skipsey for Manchester University Press.
