We’re excited to welcome our new Head of Product Design, Alex Nelson and Head of User Research Ali Stevens to the team at Snook.

Alex bade a fond farewell to the BBC recently, where he spent 8 years exploring new ways of delivering public services as the UX and Design lead for future experiences at BBC Research & Development. He brought human-centred innovation processes to the BBC & its partners in the UK, Europe and Asia through the flagship Connected Studio programme and led the research workstream on public service augmented reality.

Alex is excited to bring his innovation design practice to Snook and help explore what the future of technology for good looks like.

He has promised to try and avoid subjecting his new team to his hobby of making experimental electronic music.

After 10 years at Snook, with the last two helming the growing user research team, Valerie Carr is handing over the reins to Alexandra to lead the research team. Val is staying on at Snook as a key member of the Senior team and concentrating on guiding strategy and supporting New Business Development.

Alexandra comes to us with a deep understanding of the role of user research in developing good public services. She’s worked in government for the past 5 years, leading research and working with multidisciplinary teams at the Ministry of Justice and the Department for Education.

She’s looking forward to bringing her rigorous approach to research and passion for inclusive design to Snook and to boring colleagues with facts about the great state of Vermont and pictures of her new kitten, Bernie

Snook’s grown a lot in the past two years. Transforming into a full suite agency with a multidisciplinary team has seen the team grow in size and capabilities as we continue our mission to help organisations put user needs at the heart of what they do.

Alex and Ali joining completes our senior leadership team which is now (drumroll please); headed up by our Managing Director, Phee Kinnear, who is supported by Pete Tucker from NEC as our Commercial Director. Valerie Carr is now our Business development director and Bex and Jonny Rae-Evans are the co-Chief Design Officers.

In the Heads of zone, we have Gavin Mcguire shepherding the Service Design team, Tash Willcocks is our Head of Learning. Natalie McFadyen is the Head of New Business and as we’ve already mentioned, Alex and Alexandra are our new Heads of Product Design and Research.

We feel very lucky to have these two new skippers climbing aboard to keep steering us in the right direction and look forward to sharing more news about all the great work the team’s doing soon.
